Nadia Refaei is an emerging Tasmanian artist, photographer and creative producer based in Hobart. She received a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from the University of Tasmania.
She uses photography, installation and video to explore concerns relating to identity and culture. As a Muslim-Australian, and the child and grandchild of migrants, she has spent her life living between Australia and the Middle East - informing a sense of identity that exists in a third space. Her practice is concerned with navigating cultural spaces and how this affects a sense of self, body and belonging.
She has exhibited locally and interstate and recently joined the board of CONSTANCE ARI.
